The Garden Rooms occupy the lower floor of the original house, where the walls are almost a metre thick and the temperature barely moves between noon and midnight. Lime plaster, an oak floor laid in wide boards, and a single deep window facing the walled garden.
Mornings arrive slowly here. The light comes over the east terrace at around seven and lands on the far wall, and by the time you have made tea it has crossed the room. Nothing about this room asks for your attention.

A room for the first two days
