Courtyard Suite
From €420
per night, two guests, breakfast included
A two-part suite around the inner courtyard, with a sitting room shaded by the old fig and a separate sleeping alcove.
Two rooms rather than one: a sitting room with a low table and a pair of woven chairs, and a sleeping alcove set back behind a plaster arch. The courtyard door stands open most of the year, and the fig tree does the work of a curtain.
The suite occupies what was once the granary. We kept the old lintel, the iron hook in the ceiling and the small square window that lights the alcove at the end of the day.
In the room
- Separate sitting room
- Private courtyard seating
- Stone bath and rain shower
- Writing desk and reading lamp
- Valley tea and stovetop coffee
- Wool throws, linen bedding

Atmosphere
The shaded middle of the house
The courtyard is where the house gathers without meaning to — someone reading at eleven, the kitchen carrying trays across at one, the fig throwing a moving shadow all afternoon.
